I figured I could post some pictures of my relatively new set-up to help those who are just starting out. Lurking around the photo album when I first got into this site really helped me out in deciding what plants I liked and what conditions the plants would grow under. This tank has been running for about 8 months, but I just "planted" it about 3 months ago.

Tank-standard 55 gallon
Filter-Marineland C-220 (should have got the 360)
Lighting-Corallife 2x65w PC with 6700K bulbs (8hr photoperiod)
Substrate-1 bucket of aquariumplants.com substrate
CO2-20lb tank with aquariumplants best regulator (on for 8 hours, turns on 1 hour before lights), internal reactor driven by powerhead
Ferts- previously seachem flourish and NPK, but will start dry dosing KNO3, KH2PO4, and K2SO4 after next water change

Fish-2 angels, 4 otos, 2 bolivian rams, 2 bosemani rainbows, 2 dwarf rainbows, 8 blue tetras, 7 von rio tetras, and 1 king tiger pleco that looks good but tears things up.

Plants
Hygrophila polysperma 'sunset'
Cabomba
Glosso
Marsilea minuta
Hydrocotyle verticillata
Hydrocotyle leucephala
Micranthemum umbrosum
Watersprite
Windelov java fern
Rotala sp 'green'
Rotala macrandra 'green'
Rotala sp 'ceylon'
Blyxa japonica

Here's the tank when I first planted it, the amazon sword grew out of the tank in no time at all.

Next on my to do list is to replace the hygrophila with something with some red in it...just haven't decided on what yet.

Looking great!
I love that stump of DW where did you find that? it looks like a trunk... sweet!
I bought the driftwood from RockArtSource on Ebay. They always have some nice looking malaysian driftwood for sale. Most of it seems to be on the larger size though. My piece ended up running me about $50 after shipping which wasn't terrible. I sure loved just dropping it in the tank after a quick rinse compared to a past experience of soaking "driftwood" for a month and still having it float to the top even with the slate attached on the bottom.

I figured it was about time for an update, so here are some new pics.

looks nice
BigPaul - Your tank is looking fantastic. The only thing that I don't like is how that awesome stump looking piece of driftwood is getting covered up with (water sprite or wisteria?).
Looks great but I have to agree with BiscuitSlayer (That nic still cracks me up) on the driftwood comment. I would try to thin things out a little in front of the stump myself, it's just too cool of a piece to cover up IMO.
nice tank! where or who did you get ur shrimp from i love there color
Thanks for all the comments! I agree that the wood is getting too covered by the watersprite. I usually trim it back some, I've just been lazy when trim time comes. I actually want to replace it with something else, just waiting for the weather gets better for shipping plants.
Resowner 92- I got the shrimp from dodgefreak8. I started out with about 35 in my ten gallon about 4 months ago and I'm easily up to 200 between my 2 tanks.
Looking good! Love that piece of driftwood!
That's one of the nicest 55 gallon tanks I've ever seen! You've done a great job overcoming the challenge of limited front to back room in the tank, and your plants look very healthy and happy - I love the Marsilea foreground!

I can't wait to see how this tank develops in the future :proud:
Inspirational tank! I LOVE the tree roots/driftwood! Thanks for posting pics.
