Hello all, I have been inspired by many tank builds that I have followed to create a planted shrimp tank of my own.
I know that 3 gallons is relatively small to keep cherry red shrimp, but I have read that people are successful in breeding these guys if the colonies are kept small. However I would also like to make mine more than just a regular planted shrimp tank. I plan on culturing daphnia as well in my HOB filter/refugium to eat some of the shrimps' waste; as well as to harvest and feed to my other cichlid tank for food every week.
I am very open to what you all have to say as I am always learning.
p.s. the plants that are shown in the picture are only temporary. I just got them from my buddy because he had to disassemble and move his tank, so I adopted them for the time being. But i might try to keep the mystery bulb plant because I'm really curious to see what it is going to turn into. I also plan on keeping some hornwort for the refugium, and some of the swords from the background.
has anyone ever cultured daphnia in a freshwater refugium on a tank this small?
I plan on turning the filter off for a couple hours when feeding the daphnia so their food stays in the back.
