i just started this tank, thought i would share my work in progress n hope to learn more from this forum
its 120g (48x24x24) with catalina 4x54t5ho
using mineralized substrate method (bought the kit from torpedobob:thumbsup
laying the soil

filled n planted

i know..date jumped from 7/25 to 8/2~ i didn't take any pix in between. its just the usual process: get the tank filled, played with driftwood a bit, put some fish in there to cycle the tank & finally the plants have arrived!
the biggest mistake i made was not to plant them right away upon arrival. i had friends over for the weekend so i just let it float in tank, then 2 days later i noticed some were melting so i just quickly planted them without doing much planning.
theres really no scape to it, just hoping the plant will bounce back n i'll worry about scaping later on.

please ignore the floating dead leafs, haven't had time to siphon them
now i'm waiting for another canister filter to arrive so i can put pressurized co2 with it. hopefully that'll speed up the growth rate.

its late..i'm going to bed now~ will finish up typing the plant names tomm~

looks great so far. that will be a nice big display.

i also got a mineralized kit from torpedobarb, but it's still sitting ther. i need to move on my idea and put it together.

oh yea hes a very nice guy & mineralized soil works wonders~
i transferred one almost dead sword plant from an old tank, it was already making new growth on the same day after i put it in there, without any addiction of dry fert or co2.
i was really amazed~

2 weeks update:

i think most plants are doing fine so far, no signs of any major algae yet.
