If I want to make custom plumbing for my tank with a single intake and a single exhaust can it be done with multiple filters in a single line???

Will I lose any flow???

What rules apply to pipe diameter??

Do three filter intakes with the smallest diameter of 3/8 inch equal 1 1/8 if I use a single intake???

also...filters must overfeed the next one line as in 100gph --> 80gph -->30gph

if its the other way you will dry lock your filters

I would parallel them instead of in series. Hook all the intakes up to a manifold. Same for the outputs. You'll lose less flow this way.

IIRC filters in series makes it so you can pump water at a higher head...filters in parallel makes it so you can pump at a high GPH

...but it may be the exact opposite, gotta find my hydraulics or fluid mechanics textbooks

I agree with this.

A manifold would be the way to to it, with shut off valves leading to each filter so you can take one off while leaving the other 2 running.

You might consider using a separate pump to pull water through all the filters and not bother using the canisters' pumps.

This is also not a bad idea.
