I'm ready to take the plunge. I have been eyeballing one of these suckers ever since i got into the hobby. I have a 20g Long and i absolutely love it which turned me on to these mr aquas. i found it on marine depot for 71.99 + 8.00 shipping.

is this reasonable? anyone find them cheaper?

If you wait it will go on sale. I ended up waiting 5 weeks before buying mine and got it for $57 + $8 shipping.
5 weeks to save $14? Spend the $$ now and enjoy it.

I'm weird. I enjoy stuff 1000 times more if I get a killer deal. $14 is almost 20%.
Well they're currently out of stock, didn't notice this at first. So i'll have to wait anyway. And considering i'm slightly broke at the moment due to good ol' student loan payments, saving the money might be a good idea. especially considering I'll need a new light fixture, filter, power head, co2 set up ect.

Unfortunately for me, i'm an impulsive SOB and will probably wind up picking it up before it goes on sale anyway :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Maybe i'll cut out the co2 set up for the time being...Any light recommendations for this tank? I have a fluval daylight plant/aqualife 25w LED that is fantastic on my 20G, but i've heard a lot of positives on finnex
I use the BeamsWork double bright. I wasn't sure at first but I'm starting to like it and it was only $45. Low and medium light plants seem to like it.

+1 - I'm the same way. Nothing like saving money you would have ended up spending.

do you use pressurized co2? hows you're algae looking? dosing regiment, etc?

now that i'm thinking of it, i think i would like to keep this tank low tech so i don't have to splurge on another co2 setup.

Yes on the CO2. I dose EI daily (although I miss 1-2 days per week because I'm forgetful). Light is on for 12 hours a day. No algae.

thanks mustang. i'm the same way with my ei dosing on my 20g

looks like i'll be waiting 4-6 weeks for marine depot to restock them anyway. fingers crossed for a sale.
I hear the low iron version of this tank is coming out soon. It'll cost more but you'll see a difference.

i'm sure it's worth the wait, but i'm also sure my patience will get the best of me :red_mouth
What are you going to use for filtration?
I think there is a new vendor on the forums here that sells these. I don't know anything beyond that.

EDIT: I guess they are out of stock since last night when I looked at them. You could keep an eye on them anyway. Good luck!

I'm currently looking into getting a canister filter but I'm unsure what is adequate for flow/filtration in a 12 long. I've been looking at journals of 12 longs and many people seem to be using Eheim on these tanks so that's what i'm leaning towards at the moment. I was actually going to start another thread looking for recommendations.

Thanks for the info! I've actually reserved one over at Marine Depot (i knew my patience would get the best of me) but i'll keep my eye on this vendor as well.
