You need to keep the bioload up, or the bacterial colonies will shrink and then you might have a mini-cycle when adding fish in the future. So, yes, either dose with ammonia or fish food or ... fish? Why were you told to let the tank sit for three months? If the koi have all been healthy and the water params are good, I don't see the point in letting the tank sit empty if you have fish ready to go into it. (Assuming that any new fish have been through QT, or you are prepared to treat the tank directly should there be an outbreak of some kind.)
Moving fish out of tank.. questions
So the weather in Michigan is going to be great this week, and not drop below 60 at night. My pond is up to 54 degrees (steady) and the fish ate today for the first time since September. Which means the Comet in the jail tank (it's small no idea on gallonage), and the Koi in my 10gallon are going outside on Thursdayish (will be 80 out).
I don't care so much about the little tank, but with the 10 gallon, I was appreciating a hardy fish growing my colony of BB. The Koi ate EVERY last bit of planaria in that tank, and in general it's very healthy, with only diatoms on the Anubias, and some regular old green algae on some of the tank walls (left it on the back for future shrimps).
I was told to let this tank age for 3 months, and at that point it means I still have another month to go until I can add in it's permanent inhabitants. There are no snails or any creatures in this tank aside from the Koi, so I was wondering if I should do anything to keep up the BB levels in the tank? Should I just throw in some shrimp pellets or food every few days? Ammonia? Or just let it run. It is fully cycled, and I don't want to lose that.

I want it to be a Tiger Shrimp tank, and in an old thread someone told me to let the tank mature for 3 months so it was stable or something like that.
