Moving Bacteria
I want to help at friend at work that has started a 20 or 30 gallon fish tank.
As per my recommendation he has been running it for a few weeks and feeding it every few days.
How long will bacteria on a foam filter pad live if I give it to him? Will 2-3 hours in a ziplock bag be ok? I told him to drop it (the foam filter) in the tank to get the tank to get cycled more quickly.

It can live for the max of about 3 or 4 hours with temps. of the filter not getting to warm or cold within that time.
