Hi all
Trying out doing a moss tree for the first time :laugh2:

I got some Taiwan moss from the LFS
His advice was to just lay it out on tree and as I was dry starting it would attach itself.

I have been misting every day and running lights for 12 hours
There is growth so I am reasonably happy.

The questions I have is
1) how long would be normal to dry start with moss?
2) how can I be sure it is attached to the tree?
3) what would be the expected growth rate ?

I started this 3 weeks ago here is a couple of pics last one taken today

this way the moss will be well established before I flood
And I won't have to try tying it onto all the small branches

also you won't have to deal with much debris in the moss if you set everything up and then place in last

Looking good man. Where did you find that kind of branch/tree Ive been looking all over for it with no luck.

Bought it in my LFS already attached to the stone
I think they are readily available like this in different shapes sizes etc.

One thing I learned watch one of the YouTube videos was to use crazy glue to bond the moss to the tree limbs. Looks like you have a good start already though.

i did a dry start with java moss. i chopped it into small pieces with a knife, then just applied it to the surface with my finger. flooded the tank after 2 weeks, all the pieces were attached.

Things seem to be goitre ok so will leave things alone
