Hey guys, I'm setting up a 40 g breeder tank and have a branch of manzanita in there currently. It was in my previous tank (which had some algae issues) and while in there was constantly covered with a black algae. I'd like to avoid this in the new tank and so was thinking of growing out moss on the branches during my dry start.

I've heard you can put moss in a blender and make a paint or paste to paint on driftwood. Can you reccomend a species of moss that would look good, that also would not spread to every corner of the tank and be impossible to later get rid of? That happened to me with java moss in my old tank. It started growing in the bottom half of all my stem plants and I could never get it out. Below is a link to my current planned hardscape. Thanks
