I got some plant bulbs, and after a couple days, they started growing some white stuff on them. It is a new tank, almost done cycling. Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate all look good, but the beta i had in there died. Any ideas?

Are the bulbs squishy? That looks like more than normal biofilm, and I suspect the bulbs might be bad; if they are, they'll be really soft rather than firm. If they're still firm, try pulling them out and giving them a quick swish in some hydrogen peroxide before replanting to kill the fungus.

They were still kinda firm. I had one bulb from the pack that actually started growing, and the film around that was way different from these pics. I decided to just toss them due to the dead fish. Didnt know about peroxide wash until after the fact
