Mixing Glut

Do you really need it? Metricide has roughly twice the amount of glut as Excel. Just split the dose in half and make it easy on yourself. No need to make it so difficult.

Yes, I do really need it...I use in the place of Excel. Make it difficult? Sorry, that it appears that way to you but this is only my 2nd time mixing the stuff up and wanted to be positive of what I was doing....it last me well over 1 year the first time mixing it meaning its been a good while since I have mixed it.......but okay thanks for your time

I mix 60% glut with 40% distilled water. Dose same as excel!!

I'm just saying that you dose half the amount. That seems easy enough.

What is your glut %? Mine is 2.5%. DO you dose the same (1ml per 10g) since you use 60% glut? I am just curious, not questioning in a bad way.

Pretty sure Metricide is 1.5x the Glute of Excel.

Didn't you just state the ratio yourself? You mixed 1 gallon of Metricide 28 with water to arrive at 3 gallons. This means you diluted it by a factor of 3.

Then, you would dose accordingly (depends on the final concentration of your dilution).

What percentage is the glutaraldehyde you are using? Stating percents is not very good, unless we know the starting concentrations.

As mentioned above, 60% glutaraldehyde is misleading; it should be "6 parts" to be more accurate.

I use Metricide 14 which is 2.6% Glutaraldehyde. Excel is 1.5% Glut.

2.6 divided by 1.5 = 1.733

So Metricide 14 is 1.733 times stronger than Flourish Excel.

If you want a 500ml solution of 1.5% Glut, then divide 500 by 1.733 to get 288ml of Glut, to which you would then add 212ml distilled water to bring it upto 500ml total.

I personally don't dilute it any more and just use straight Metricide once I figure out the equivalent to Excel just as a reference.
