Im slowly but surely becoming less and less of a planted tank noob. But, im not quite there yet.

So, another newby question.

There are small ferns growing on my larger ferns. Some are still really tiny and aren't ready to be removed yet. But, there are some with leaves and roots over and inch long. Is that large enough for me to take them off and replant? Or should I wait until they come off on there own.

A few have come off and have been floating around the tank, but they may have been knocked off by something in there.

Anyways, cool. I took them off and tied them to some of my driftwood in various spots. Now, i dont dose one account I have a dirt substrate. Will the smaller ferns be ok? or should i dose something since they wont be getting nutrients from the soil.
