I got 3ft tank (920x360x500) which makes 165 litre.
Im planning to get AquaOne metal halide (MG1000).

• Include 10,000 Kelvin Metal Halide lamps and blue PL lamps.
• PL ‘Blue’ lamps fitted: 4 x 18 watt
• Metal lamps fitted: 2 x 150 watt
1. Is this lighting too much as Im afraid if I get this light, I will get a lot of algae problem.
2. Does the blue light do anything for the plants ? Or its jus there to show contrast ?

Thanks in advance.

I have 2 175 watt MH pendants over a 55g and have for years. Tank depth is also a consideration with light. Pendants can be raised or lowered to adjust the light: halve the distance from light to subject and quadruple the amount of light and vice versa. IMO they just look nicer.
