Does anyone keep these fish? I'm seeing conflicting info on the size they get .. anywhere from 4" to 8".

Could I keep just 1 or 2? Or do they need to be kept in a schools of 3-5 or even more?

Are they considered a mid-level, bottom level or just all around level fish.

One site says they're vary adaptable to flow, PH, hardness, etc. but seems they might make a good cold water fish.

Are they jumpers, fast swimmers, aggressive or any other info?

Thanks for the link aquabruce .. that was the first one I came across & seemed to have the best info. I did a bit more searching and found some additional info. Most say 4" long so will assume that rather than the 8" I saw one place.

I also came across a Rainbow fish forum that has actual user experiences with it as sometimes that is the most helpful. http://www.rainbow-fish.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=11&sid=39b7f20f22e929ecd5d122bfa22237a3

Thanks to both of you for replying.

Ok .. thanks. They are just something I was looking at & doing research on.

It seems I read that Florida bred ones are not as colorful as those actually from Australia. Then I read that those kept in ponds color up more because they experience natural seasonal temperature changes .. similar to how my aquarium does.

I'll check into to them more. I'm looking for something that gets about 4" so they are the right size and able to tolerate cool water.
