I have 3 of the Marienland - 45g, 10g, 20L tanks. I don't have a PAR meter but my experience is that they're pretty high light (and the 45g is a tall tank). I've had good plant growth but I don't have anything particularly demanding (anubias, crypts, buce, swords, sag, val, java fern). The timers can be set for only one time period/span. If you want a lights-off period during the day, for instance, then back on evening/night, it has to be done manually. I have mine set from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and turn them off midday manually. The *white* and blue lights can be set separately.
Having no other experience with LEDs I have nothing to compare them to but I do like them. I have had to cut back on the hours on because of algae but the plants seem *happy*. I'm not a techno-geek anyway so the more complicated lighting systems would probably defeat me.
