Marble crayfish did it.

I have one marble cray fish left after feeding one to my cichlids because I was mad at it for eatting plants.

My one crayfish is berried. It was just a matter of time and I was starting to wonder if it would ever have babies.

The crayfish is in a hospital tank with a recovering Uaru. I was going to use these crayfish as live food. Not sure what else to do with them. Anyone want some.

I have not noticed them eating shrimp but have you seen them do that ? They will reduce a snail overpopulation quicker than anything except clarkii or alleni . They take to long to raise I think to be a good food source . Cherry shrimp would have been a better choice . By the way my Africans love snails I wonder if that Uaru would as well ?
I want some, you RAOK'ing? lol
If I get a lot of babies from this batch I will give them away. I got it for free might as well spread the love. I only want to keep one maybe 3 babies.

They seem to take a while to mature. I got mine when it was 2" now it's 3" and finally making babies. But once you have a mature cray they will produce every month of so. I think I will have a lot. These are very hardy animals to say the least.

As for keeping them with shrimp I would not do it. If they get hungry enough they will eat anything. They love plants and I kind of starved the tank and saw this cray grab onto the fish it shares the tank with. They can get aggressive. Since I have been better about feeding she no longer goes crazy.
