Odd question,

Has anyone witnessed a male guppy trying to mate with a golden pencil fish before?

My 10g has a betta, inverts, male and female golden pencil fish, 1 male guppy. I originally had 2 gups but one passed away. The gups and pencils use to hang out together alot but the male gups were always dancing with each other. Now the single gup is doing what appears to try and mate with the pencil fish.

Not much experience with guppies. Just seems like odd behavior. Its not like a continuous onslaught or anything but it is happening. The male and female pencils are a good behaving pair. She will fill with eggs and I assume deposit them pretty regularly although the tank is not setup to try and breed them.
