Hi -

I am installing a Magnum 350 Pro (Magnum 350 canister + filter bag + 2 Bio Wheels).

The directions suggest that I use charcoal in the media can, but I know that is primarily to remove medication or odor.

So....any suggestions what to use for media? Keep in mind I have 2 Bio Wheel 60s for biological filtration.

Maybe sponges?

Some folks fill it with filter floss.

I setup a Magnum 350 yesterday. I filled mine with AquaClear Bio-Max media, cut up sponge from a sponge filter (left over from making covers for the intakes on my AquaClears), and poly-fil.

I used filter floss for the past four months, it clogs up to fast. I just started with a fine gravel in the basket and stayed with the micro wrap(blue). I use fluorite and the dust is picked up quickly. anyway the gravel will be easy to clean and still fine enough to trap the dirt and BIO.
