Has anyone experienced problems with the mag-float? I have heard that they can scratch your tank. Or would you be safe if you bought the glass mag float for a glass tank? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I used the search tool and found nothing. thanks.

If you have a glass tank get the glass one. I've only heard, and experienced, a problem with them if something gets caught in between the magnet and the scraper ei. snails, substrate.

They arent designed to be used on an Arcylic tank. They will scratch them really easily. With glass like everyone said just make sure thay are clean before use.

Is there absolutely no way to use these in a sand substrate tank? Even if you don't go to the bottom of the tank? I just got one but I have a sand bottom in my tank.

get the acrylic version even if you have a glass tank.
the glass version can and will make tiny scratches.
I have one of them, and because of the scratches,
(not from stuck gravel) I rarely use it anymore.

these diagonal scratches are a foot above my gravel
and are definitely as a result of using a Mag float.
the small sporadic white lines are moving bubbles.
