I've read that mixing excel with a fertilizer solution will result in precipitation, so you should not mix it. Does this mean if I dose excel and a macro or micro fert solution at the same time, then I'll get precipitation in my tank?

I have not read that before, I do know that a ton of people have used excel to reduce the risk of the micro solution molding without any issues.

I mix a full dose of excel with the macros and the micros (2 bottles) so that when I dose the tanks on alternate days they get the carbon they need with either macros or micros. I have not seen any precipitation, and the fungus that often grew in the micros is not there.

I think you got your wires crossed. As mentioned Excel can preserve your trace mix. Precipitation usually occurs when you mix phosphates with iron.
