Lux readings. What do they mean?

Bought this and I'm getting 1 LUX which equals 2000. I don't understand how much light that is. Can you help me?

"Bought this", so my thinking leads me to believe you bought a LUX meter?
Somewhat confused about what you are asking. Also perplexed about "I'm getting 1 LUX which equals 2000."

On occasion I use an old digital LUX meter that has settings for 2,000/20,000/50,000. If I put my meter in the 2,000 measurement mode and measure a light source of approx. 40,000 LUX, the screen will show 1 (so I have to go to either the 20,000 or 50,000 setting).

I use my LUX meter for rough estimates (and I mean rough) for light intensities, and/or *putting me somewhere in the ballpark* for PAR estimates ~ end up getting some decent/reasonable estimates by using a few simple calculations (if memory serves me correct, these calculations are within the ballpark).

LUX x .093 = FC (footcandles)
LUX divided by a number of 70-76 = rough estimate of PAR

With all the different types of light emitting devices in our modern world (eg., LEDs, etc.), and if your goal is obtaining accurate PAR measurements, using a dedicated PAR meter is your best bet. For me, getting somewhere in the ballpark is good enough... there have been times when my "eyes" have fooled me, and a LUX meter did come in handy.
