I am looking for a colored plant to add to the back of my 5 gallon tank (right side). Something on the smaller side without visible roots. Alternanthera Reineckii mini may have worked but they do not grow vertically as a background plant should. Vertical growth and small leaves are what I need in a red plant without CO2.

I cannot remember the name of the plant and will need to look it up but it is a small version of Ludwidgias with smaller roundish and very dark red leaves. Ludwidgia sp red? Grows vertically and just might work out for you. I have some pictures of it in my tanks and need to hunt them down. Relatively common. People?

You can try Rotala colorata but I personally doubt you can get it to stay red - it does need pretty decent light.

That plant aside, you are pretty much out of luck with low light levels, imho.
