Low Light Carpet

What is a good low light carpet plant?

My tank is a 10g with eco-complete substrate, 38w of spiral CFL lighting at 6500k...I have DIY co2, and I dose excel, and pfertz medium tech.

The reason it is "low light" is that I have the whole tank covered with red root floater, however, I am still growing riccia down near the bottom of the tank, so I figure some sort of carpet plant could probably be arranged. Thanks, Forrest

Considering the low light, a java moss carpet might be in order.
Riccia, then you can join the I love riccia or I hate riccia club depending how you feel. I have some flame moss going as some midground "bushes" that would probably work as a carpet if done correctly.
I have a 10 gallon low light with anubis petite carpet. A little nontraditional (i think) but it looks awesome.
Marsilea minuta is a good low-tech foreground that looks similar to Glosso, only a bit darker green in color.
I keep looking for a carpet for my LT 55g, and I keep coming up with Dwarf Hairgrass. Or a moss carpet. Java, Flame (this one grows upright and spiraly, for a lawn type), X-mas (love the 'branching'), Peacock, Taiwan... Just some suggestions. Check out Laura Lee's LT 29 gallon. That foreground--- legendary. Liliopsis mauritiana.
Echinodorus tenellus, marsilea minuta, glosso, and microsword are the ones that come to mind. Blyxa japonica can also be used as a ground cover, but it's a like-it-or-you-don't thing.
I am also interested in getting a carpet look in my tank. Im trying water wisteria since i already have it growing and seems to be growing well. I hear that if you lay it down on the substrate it will soon carpet the entire floor of the tank. I tend to suspect that if there is not enough light though that it will tend to grow vertical to the light.

Already using this plant somewhere else in the layout, so I think that would look unusual.

Im also not interested really in the riccia or java moss...I think that would be a pain to maintain.

I will probably go with this.
belem would be nice. it is a hairgrass (i believe) that doesnt get as tall as a regular type of hairgrass. i had a similar set up in my 10g and the DIY CO2 really helped it.

im now using belem in my 7.5g cube, along with stargrass as a background, with 3 seiryu stones for the hard scape.
Just ordered some MM that will be a part of my new scape...now hopefully the DW sinks soon...its been around 2 weeks!
I second this one, it is a great plant.
My MM never took off the way I wanted it to. I put that in the foreground along with Echinodorus quadricostatus and decided they will have a battle for my foreground. The chain sword produced runners faster than I imagined and a total of 6 new leaves sprouted up from the MM...

I imagine the MM looks really neat in large numbers but the E. quadricostatus matches the rest of my swords. :hihi:
We will just see...if it takes off...it takes off...otherwise we might have to try something else.

I wont do mosses or riccia though, that just seems like it would be terrible to maintain. Super messy.
