I’m not really sure how a “mature” S Repens plant should look. When I google images I see these beautifully carpeted tanks and hats far from what I’m working with. Are there different species that all go by S. Repens??

They sort of look like wisteria to me, they don't look like s. repens.

I've been doing a lot of research on this. I have the opposite happening with mine, they grow really dense making it difficult to propogate them and form a carpet.

What kind of light do you have? Under low light conditions they'll grow tall and leggy like that, under high light they'll grow bushy and theoretically form a carpet(IE horizontal shoots)

I’m running an Odyssea LED that I had laying around. I run max lights for about 5 hours with my Co2.

The most info I can find on those lights is that they're for marine use, so I have no idea how to categorize them.

How long have the S. Repens been in your tank? How much have they grown since you planted them?

If that tall growth was achieved with that light, then I'd consider it a low-medium light. You could still theoretically achieve a carpet but it will take more patience and manual propagation. At least from what I've read about them. Mine have surprised me, but their growth is incredibly slow, even with ferts, CO2, and medium-highish light.

That was all from one culture container. Its been in my tank for quite some time. When they get real tall, I trim and replant them. I’ll occasionally get a couple of runs off of a plant.
I’ve started looking at other lighting options. I want to make sure that it’s strong enough to reach the substrate of my 90gal.
