So I started a tank journal on this but that thread is dead in the water. Anyway, this is my 5.5 gallon scape design and just looking to see what people think.

Was thinking a kind of dutch style with multiple stem plants in back and carpeting plant in front.

Nature/river style with sand separate from substrate.

Be sure to use the full height of the tank, It can really help give a sense of scale. Maybe another taller piece of drift wood in the back left corner.

Just threw that in real quick, you're right this gives good height. Thank you! I've got some other pieces I could play around with and maybe find one with more character.

That piece of driftwood is pretty dull... I'd find a better one.

It looks much better in person, but I agree. So I came up with this. So far I think its the best I've come up with and should be the easier to do than the one before.

The new wood looks better. I would try to only leave one rock to the right, and put the rest of the rock together by the left.

Those rocks are too small and will disapear once the plants grow. Your biggest stone should be at least one third the height of the tank.
