I have actually had account here for about 5 years… I've gone through several phases of thinking about setting up an aquarium, but haven't yet. The current phase seems like it will end with actually getting it set up.

Will be getting a 29g kit @ WalMart next week (husband worked BF, so we'll be getting it 25% off.)

Planning on heavily planted, with a school of neon tetras, a betta, and some shrimp and snails.

Betta might get a little bossy with everyone else, especially the shrimp, but otherwise it sounds like a good plan!

I think I had one of the same 29 gal tanks when I first started... Those things are tall - you'll want to get a rather powerful light fixture.
