I want some kind of fish for the bottom of the tank. Before the rescape I had one emerald cory inherited from a friend that lived a year and a half by himself. He was pretty active and seemed happy.

I don't want to risk loneliness for a new one though. can you think of any fun looking solitary bottom dwelling fish?

Parrot?

As in parrot cichlid?

6-8" of parrot cichlid is much too big for a 10gal tank, anyways. I wouldn't put any other fish in there till after you've got the Parrot in a bigger tank.
I know. I've been scolded already. :icon_cry: (see tank journal) However, I've been told that he won't outgrow his means.

Do you think he would do OK with Amanos?

"He won't outgrow his means"?

The old "a fish won't grow any larger than its container" myth? *sigh*

Again, I wouldn't add anything to this tank till you upgrade the cichlid to a bigger home. It may be OK for a few months in a 10gal tank, but after that you'll start stunting it. Stunting isn't healthy for fish.
