super glue does not hold as well as i was lead to believe... it held for a week and dissolved... i glued a marble to the bottom of a sponge filter to keep it from floating and it did not hold...

You mix the 2 parts out of the water, wait until it starts to harden but is still semi-liquid, and you can apply it directly under water if you need to.
I'm going for a boulder less aqua scapeput a river rock inside the sponge and a couple on top, once you use it a bit it will sink without them.
While the glue was holding the clear half marbles I was using worked very well and looked pretty awesome.. besides that the nearest place to me that sells tiles is 2 hours away one way. Thanks for the idea though.Or glue the sponge to a 4 inch ceramic tile.
