I just added this lobster into my planted tank. He seems quite happy and runs about in the foreground. The seller called it a "Chocolate Lobster". I am not able to find any scientific name for this on the internet. Can someone help me please?

Thank you. It does look a lot like your picture, only more opaque in nature. This guy darts across the tank pretty quick, as fast as a tetra and very light on his feet. Is that how prawns behave too?

Good luck finding an actual scientific name for this. It's in the macrobrachium family & most likely caught from a wild river/pond somewhere in your country since similar colored shrimps are found in South America and other parts of Asia.

Hi MSG,

Thanks for your reply. The links are most useful. To answer your question, they are not really expensive : I paid INR 300.00 for a pair, which roughly translates to US$ 5.00 for the pair.
