Lizard moved into my apartment

2008 Views 21 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  @[email protected]
Yesterday I found a small lizard in my apartment and shooed him back into the hallway, just saw him again and decided to leave him where he is.

I live in los angeles and looking on the internet I think he might be a skink, I'm not sure. His body is as long as a finger and his tail is even longer than that and he's a dull brown color. Shows little to no fear will only move if you poke him. Likes to curl himself into an oval shape.

Anyway, only reason I didn't kick him out is I'm going through an earwig invasion right now and hopefully he will eat them. My main worry is he will poop on stuff or crawl across me in my sleep and totally freak me out. Does anyone here know about keeping guest lizards?

Good thing you noticed it before it could of creep up to your bedside and stare at you while you sleep. Haha j/k
Haha.

I wouldn't be too worried about it messing with you. We used to have a bunch of geckos in our house in florida and I very rarely saw any kind of bug inside. It was kind of creepy seeing them hunting around the walls/ceiling at night though. It was still a good tradeoff if you ask me...

I get anole lizards in the house all the time. If you have any bugs you can bet the lizards will take care of that. :)

i would be bothered more by the gecko turds all over the place rather than a few spiders and flies.
They are VERY easy to catch, if you want. When you see him, lay a paper bag on the floor. Shoo him towards the bag and he will run right into it.
I live in Houston, we have geckos in the house all the time. I would just let them stay, they are very cute, but we have to catch them and move them outside before the cats see them or it is goodbye lizard.
I used to have a house geko that lived in my bedroom under my alarm clock was good at eating escape feeder crickets and spiders.
Ocasionaly he would fall in my fish tank, always found his way out though.
Do you have any pics of your new scaley lil roommate?
Probably an anole. Very common in the south.
Maybe he's selling insurance?
LMAO too!

On a serious note if it does look like that one, its worth a pretty nice chunk of change.

It could be an alligator lizard.
It could be an alligator lizard.
Second that.
Heres some pictures of the southern alagator lizard. Coloration differs a bit from the northern we see up here.

Try looking up a brown anole. They sound like good beginner pet lizards if you want to keep him as a pet.
The people on this form might be able to help you out too http://www.geckosunlimited.com/
When I lived in Topanga we had them all the time. If you have bugs in the house, they'll hang around and eat. If you don't, they move on.
