you can find the little ones on ebay .
How tall is the Zoomed 501?Aquaticmagic has 9mm pipes with an inlet that goes down 4.5". I have the same pipes on my zoomed.
Hey Archer,Height of the pipes are too big. I found a couple on Ebay that had the right diameter, but they are 6.5" deep which would mean the inlet is in my substrate.
I stumbled upon these on Amazon. This was my failover plan if I couldn't find anything else smaller/nicer.Aquaticmagic has 9mm pipes with an inlet that goes down 4.5". I have the same pipes on my zoomed.
Is there any place in Oahu that carry anything close? I'll be flying back home, family is in Pearl City, in a few weeks. Not sure of tubing diameter for your Zoomed canister but I got a glass lily pipe set for less than $20 & shipping was free. Try Aliexpress & look for Fischer Chemical who makes size S 9mm lily pipes (see "Custom OTS filter"). Both DoAqua & Cal Aqua Labs make short intake pipes but they are 13mm.
I believe it's almost 7" tall which means I'll have to rig up my piping with elbows no matter the lily pipes I go with. How tall is the Zoomed 501?
I'll poke around and look at some more photos of these for sure. I'm trying to mock up the hosing right now, and since I know some measurements of the pipes you guys have I'll have a much better idea. Thanks! Most likely will be hearing from me in the next few weeks.Hey Archer,
One of our rep's took a quick snapshot of our VIV 10mm/13mm pipes for you to get a better understanding of the height of our pipes. This is a VIV Mini Violet 13mm inlet pipe & VIV Mini 10mm outflow pipe. His pipes have a 3" clearance in an 8 1/2 inch tall aquarium. So you would have a 2 1/2 inch clearance in your 8" cube aquarium.
If you need anymore sizing information & pictures, let me know.
Sounds like you got it all figured out, please update us on what you come up with. I have a similar setup, always interested in a better way of doing things.I'd rather use 90's rather than looping it to reduce clutter as well as lock the lily pipes where I want them rather than having the hoses pushing them around.

I'll be playing around with this later this month, so I appologize early for the delay on info on this. I'll be sure to post up what I settle on.Sounds like you got it all figured out, please update us on what you come up with. I have a similar setup, always interested in a better way of doing things.
Thanks! I knew they were in Aiea, was hoping to run in while waiting to pickup some Katsu plate lunch and Young's.You can try Aquascapes (moved to Nimitz). Don't know of any other LFS that carry glassware. Good luck. :bounce:
Yep, 90 degrees do mess with flow rates. They do make 90 degrees with gradual turns rather than a sharp 90 which should solve that. The 501's are the smallest I know of. The Azoo's are much taller and the design doesn't appeal to me. I don't see how the system filters where as the Zoomed has a baffle to force flow through all media.90 degree elbows reduce flow rates.
What is the smallest external canister?
Is the Azoo hog worth it or too noisy?
