Hello folks,
I have a shrimp tank where I am purposely trying to grow a light layer of algae as food. At the moment there's a DIY LED light, which just consists of those flexible LED strips with color temperature 5000K. Visually it looks fine, but it doesn't grow enough algae to keep up with the shrimps.
I read that "natural sunlight" promotes algae growth, so I wonder if I should get a different kind of lighting spectrum that is more broadband, or something. Another option is to add a strip of those red and blue LED plant grow lights. Yet another option is to just increase the brightness or photoperiod of the current setup, but I don't want to stress out the shrimp too much. Whatever option has to be dimmable to work with my ramp timer.
Thanks
