Lighting Question

Why cant you use incandescents as lighting for live plants?

You can.
Pretty much any light in appropriate quantities will grow plants.
Florescent bulbs just do a lot better job for a much lower energy cost.

Until we got all these specially doped fluorescent tubes, the standard for green house plant racks was two 40 watt T-12 tubes in a fixture with three 40 watt incandescent bulbs.
