Hi all. I am back in the planted tank hobby after my husband left ALL of my equipment behind without telling me when we moved out of state. He said he couldn't fit it on the truck and it wasn't important. :surprise: Needless to say, I was sick and furious when my tanks and equipment didn't roll off the truck. Yes, he is still breathing. That was about five years ago.

I've finally come out of my sulk and am starting over with a small tank this time. I picked up a 24 X 18 X 18 rimless today. The salesman talked me into purchasing an AI PRIME HD light by C2 Development. It is on an adjustable stand where I can move it as close as 5 inches to 10 inches from the rim (guestimate from eyeballing it.) He said it would go from 3 to 12, but it doesn't look like it to me. It will also adjust to where I can move it closer to the back or the front of the tank.

It is wireless and controlled by my phone. I think the default settings are for a saltwater tank because it looks blue. Salesman insisted the light is the greatest thing since man invented the wheel. I'm guessing not, but who knows? We'll see I guess.

First question I have is the spectrum. I can dial in the spectrum I want. I can also completely turn off certain colors. I'm guessing blue needs to be turned down or completely off. Here is what the box says on the bottom about the LEDs:

CREE XP-G2 Cool White (> 70 CRI)
Cree XP-E2 Green
Cree XT-E Royal Blue
SemiLED 405nm UV
OSRAM OSLON Deep Red
Cree XP-E2 Blue
SemiLED 415nm Violet

There are 13 LEDs in there that I can see.

These can all be adjusted to the percent of power used as well. Right now they appear to all be at 100% Total wattage is 48W. When turning some off, the wattage goes down. It appears that some can be turned above 100% to around 120% Beats me. I'm clueless.

I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could tell me which colors to turn off, what percentage I should set these at for now while I'm cycling the tank. What spectrum I should use, ..., etc. Currently have a few low light plants just to soak nitrates.

Also... how many hours. The default setting is to turn on at 8 am and gently get brighter until noon. Full power until 4 pm. Then gently recede until 8 pm. Supposedly this will more closely mimic sunlight. Sounds reasonable and something that might actually be good if they're strong enough that 4 full power hours will keep my plants alive.

Any help on how to set this up would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you!

Almost every question is more personal than scientific.. not to mention somewhat plant specific..
First Tune the color to what you like visually..

Good you returned it.. a bit wasteful being more reef centric..
This is a bit better:

Seems it is the AI that elicits little response..;)

Sorry. I thought this thread was dead.

I purchased the XR15FW when I returned the Prime HD. Still AI, but a bit better, I think. Hoping anyway.

Thank you for responding. ;)
