Hello everyone!

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks but this is my first post. I've been keeping fish for a year now, and I've gone from zero to five tanks in that time! I really enjoy being hands on with my tanks, and that's why I wanted to join the world of planted tanks! It seems like I'm always arm deep in my tanks trying to make things look good!

So, my first adventure will be with a 50 gallon (48x12.5x19) tank. I'd really like to order some lights for it today because the lights it came with just aren't enough, and it has some plants and fish in there already.

I'd like to keep this as low budget as possible, because I'm a student. I was planning on buying a coralife T5 fixture that's 48" and 56 watts total. I won't be using CO2. Is this enough wattage? I'd like to grow a little more than just anubias and java fern! I'm open to affordable lighting suggestions!

That's exactly the light I was looking to purchase. With the 56 watt T5, will I really be able to grow a small variety of plants?

Thanks for your advice!
