Lighting for 5.5G tank

Hello all,

Can someone please provide me with a few good options for high light fixtures for a 5.5G (16" x 8" x 10") heavily planted tank? My lighting budet is $75. JFYI, I will be injecting DIY C02 and following EI dosing. Just can't wrap my mind around the whole lighting piece of it...

Actually, let's make the budget $100, if necessary. Thanks again!

You can use a 18w (6,500k) CFL blub, which im using, but I suspect you will have much greater growth than my tank because i have no c02. I bought the bulb from home depot btw. :icon_smil
I use a walmart desk lamp over mine and i get ok results i think im going to upgrade mine too. My glosso seems to want to grow straight up in there.
Does anyone know if the Archaea 36 Watt Clip-on light will be too much light? If yes, how about the same, but the 27 watt model?
I've really liked the Macro-Glo compact fluorescent refugium light fixtures. I've got the 15 watt over my tall 8 gallon rimless and it's wonderful. It comes in a 25 watt version, too.

These are pretty (prettier than in the photo) and you can lift them for tank cleaning. They seem sturdier than Fluval's new 13 watt light (which came with my Ebi tank) and the Ebi light doesn't lift, either, but the Ebi light is nice, too.

I really like this Archaea 36 watt light.

Is 36 watts too much light for a 5.5 gallon tank? Also, the light is 18" long, and my tank is only 16". Since it's a clip-on light, are there any issues (other than aesthetics) with the fact that the light would hang over by an inch on each side?

Any opinions on 36W for a 5.5G tank? Is it too much light?
I have the 27 watt archaea lamp on my 5 gallon and everythings been doing very well, I think 36 watts might be a little unnecessary.
