Hey guys, I've seen a lot of people using metal conduit and bending it into a frame to hang their lighting from. I am wondering, what are you guys using to bend it? Does everyone have a pipe bender and I'm just out of the loop? lol

I am wanting to do this because I live in an apartment and want to avoid drilling light hangers into the ceiling, but am just trying to see how you guys go about making yours.

Found the conduit bender on Home Depot website. Sorry for not doing the research first! Don't think I need help on this project anymore

Will do. Going to be a little while, still in the build stages for the whole tank. Will make the light hanger shortly after building the stand! All pics will be in the journal for it

I got my 1/2" conduit bender from a pawn shop for $10. It's a little beat up, but it worked very well and I'll likely not have much other use for it. It sure beat the $50 for a new one.

Here's mine, nothing to brag about but it was relatively cheap and works very well. FYI, I found out the hard way that when mounting the conduit to the back of the stand that 1/2" conduit brackets do NOT fit 1/2" conduit. I had to go back and get the 3/4" conduit brackets to fit on the 1/2" conduit.

Total cost to be around $75 dollars for the light, bulbs, conduit, bender and associated accessories. Make sure you read up on how to measure for the bend. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me. This one is mounted over a 125.

I purchased my bender and conduit from lowes, came home bent the pipes and then went right back to return it. Didn't feel paying that much for something that was used once was justifiable and so did the customer service associate who accepted the return with that as my reason.

I didn't tell you this, but a lot of guys (stares off over your head) take the conduit to the conduit bender department, bend it, then bring it to the cashier. I didn't tell you this.

I bent two pieces of conduit at Home Depot, took them to the cashier and paid for the pieces. Sales guy in the aisle was interested in what I was doing but didn't complain.
