Figured I would join the fun if you don't mind me stealing your template...this pet store is up in Fort Collins.

Store: D&G Pets

Location: 925 East Harmony Rd, Fort Collins

Website: none that I know of?

Plant Selection: Medium sized about 6 20gallon tanks worth, decent selection depending on what they have in stock.

Fresh Water Livestock: Pretty nice selection that changes pretty regularly, definitely a few rare fish every now and then.

Dry goods: Small selection and typically overpriced by quite a bit...except fish food is a good deal there for a refillable bottle.

Whats Unique: A couple people who work there know their stuff, they even have a really nice high tech planted tank. They also have a decent selection of saltwater fish and such. Also they have sales pretty often, especially if they have a lot of one thing or another = good deals!

I would second that review, thanks for posting it. In Fort Collins, it's the best aquarium store around. Over the course of a few visits, I was able to fill my 135G tank with a nice variety of plants and (almost) all the fish I needed ("almost" because I purchased my discus directly from a breeder, Gwynnbrook Farm). The staff people I dealt with were knowledgeable and helpful.

Minor quibble: they seem to like to make up random names for fish and plant species...

The random names add money (ie: Guppy $.99; rainbow guppy $1.99; Ultra Rambo Godslayer Youllnevergetitasgood Guppy $priceless, fyi.) Its a throwback to saltwater, just look up names of zoas and mushrooms and you'll start to blush.

D & G is ok, better than most LFS I've seen lately. But all of my best fish came from craigslist and Petco and we all know what a sorry statement that is.

Since the "no reviews" rule was pointed out to me, I've tried to get some clarification, but haven't gotten a response yet.

Here's my take:
If we stick to objective criteria, there really shouldn't be much of a problem. How large a selection of X do they have, (and in comparison to what). What sorts of things have you seen there and nowhere else. Do they have a super cool high tech planted show tank set up? Basically, anything anyone could observe for themselves, if they were there.

Comments on potentially contentious issues, like what their prices are like (maybe they're just high on what you shop for?), or the quality of their staff (the correct answer is probably hit and miss, regardless of the shop), should probably be kept out, if we can.

My goal is what bigboij pointed out. Save people from driving 100 miles just to see a clone of the shop down the street. Especially since there are other shops around that have unique things.

If I get clarification on the rule, I'll let people know, and change templates accordingly.

If any mods are reading this, and want to comment, either publicly, or privately, I'd certainly appreciate any clarification.

Until then, keep it objective and truthful, and there shouldn't be any trouble.
