When I went to Fish Freaks, I didn't find the best selection of non-Cichlids. They have a great selection of those, but everything else seemed kind of slim pickins, and fairly timid. But the people were nice. I appreciate that their betta cups are aerated, but the bettas do not like current, so they seemed really stressed and sick.

NAS was unfortunately, sold out of a lot of fish but those that were marked were of a great selection, and they had several lovely large tanks of plants. The fish that were there appeared to be in better condition, not as stressed.

I didn't see driftwood at either.

Check out fin-tastic fish in bellevue. They have tons of driftwood of all kinds. Cheapest price around too. They also have plants and plant friendly fish.

Bump: Last time I was in NAS they were selling houseplants as aquatic and alot of fish were mis labeled and sick. Aquapets carrys plants too.

A new invertebrate specialty store just opened up in Council Bluffs that seems pretty cool. http://onestopaquatics.com/ The guy who runs the place has got a bunch of different types of freshwater shrimp, crayfish and snails and really seems to know his stuff about breeding them and is willing to answer any questions and give tips. Here's the address:
2800 twin city drive ste 3R

When you drive up to the place you'll see a bar but his shop is actually in a different building back behind the bar.

The last time i went to aqua pets they had all their reef stuff torn down. Their big cube tank with the shark had a fish with some kind of illness. They had zero LED lights. I did not look att he chiclids but the other FW fish did not look very good. I was not impressed with their stock of freshwater fish either. NAS has replaced some of their employees. The chick is cool and knows some stuff about freshwater, the new guy that works there, genius! Last time i went to FF i had bad experience also plus their store hours dont fit my over night schedule. For me NAS is the best. I would put FF 2nd. and IMO Aquapets doesn't make the list. They have some beautiful displays but i have never bought ANYTHING there bc they never seem to have anything in stock.
