:help: What is this?? I found it in a FW state stocked fishing pond and collected some. I just want to know what it is and if I should put it in my tank or not.

All of it is floating in the water attached to wood and what-not, does hairgrass do that?????

I'm not too sure its hairgrass. It looks more like some kind of thread algae or Claudophora (sp?), or at least something similar.

Look at Najas guatelupensis and see if it looks similar to that. Maybe not from the photo, but outside it grows a bit differently than in a tank, so maybe.

it probabily wont reak havoc on your tank do a bleach or sail dip/ some other form of pest killer try it out whats the worst that could happen ?

is there a stem/leaf structure? Any roots showing? It's too difficult to tell from the pic....may even be a type of algae given the description.

I'll second Najas, if not algae, in which case: a Chara sp. Stonewort, or a Nitella sp.?

These pictures show one plant each.

There are no stems. They seam to branch off by growing new plants off of the leaves. The leaves are the size of Dwarf Hairgrass' leaves. I also don't see any roots.

It does not seam to be algae. The just float around in the water and bunch up on things.
