I want to get a Leopard gecko for my birthday... however am still trying to figure out some details. I know I want to buy my Leo when about Juvenile and would prefer a female, but it would be hard to tell at such a young age, I have a tank, lighting, and heat pad, I have figured out food pricing and also have a substrate (doing tile) But my biggest question right now is UV Fluorescent lighting. I have done research about it and most people say that 5 to 6% is good, but I have also seen 2 things that said the gecko was fine with up to 20%! I don't know if they are bonkers, or if this is a silly question for me to ask, but I am mostly asking because I already have a 15% Fluorescent light and would rather not have to get another.
Also, do I need 2 thermometers for my 10 gal tank to measure the temperature? I have heard some say it's fine to just have a hand-held one and to make sure to check the temperature on both the hot side and the cool side, but others say hand-held isn't good.
Thanks so much!
