Going on three days of dry starting my Dwarf Baby Tears in a 5g tank outside. It looks like direct sunlight for the first couple days in addition to our 90+ degrees F heat has burnt most of the leaves. I just added plastic wrap on top yesterday.

Some are still green, but not nearly as green as when I started. Are the white leaves completely dead?

I moved it into the shade last night, we'll see how well they do today.

My phone doesn't take great pictures, so the girlfriend is going to break out her amazing camera for us. Stay tuned...

thats way too overstocked with discus i hope youre doing wc everyday
du3ce, overstocked?! uh oh. They seem very happy in there. I'm doing a straight up EI regiment with weekly WCs. Can you shed some more light on your comment?

The only thing I'd change is to get a lighter colored substrate. I believe they're developing a little peppering because the dark Amazonia. Hopefully that'll change when I get some HC to take root.

Thanks!!

There is a video that The King of DIY just posted:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXe3VKh7qF8

It's a presentation by Al Sabetta (owner of simplydiscus). He'll tell you everything you need to know about discus.

I don't know if Hans already told you, but planted discus tank isn't a good idea for young juveniles. They are best raised in a bare bottom tank with frequent large water change.

Tank isn't overstocked, just isn't an ideal condition to raise young discus. Adult discus will do awesome in a planted tank! :)

It's not that they seem unhappy or that you need to add more ferts. Juvenile discus require large daily water changes in the range of 40-50% daily to grow, unless you don't mind having stunted and sick discus.

Great video by Al! I got my discus at a large 3.5", now they are approaching 4" each. Without realizing, I did plan an open front to the scape. I'll have take a close look at the features on them now that I know what to look for. According to the video it looks like I should look into water changes every couple days.

Maybe start with a small WC every couple days and see how it affects them, raise if necessary. Anyone know how that's going to affect EI dosing? Seems like if I stay on schedule then it wouldn't matter.
