So I'm one of those dude that didn't go to college right after high school but I am now currently. I really wanted to make this thread to reflect upon when needed to. This is a tank that I feed once a day and maybe a water change every 3 weeks so everything has to be on par. Lol ever heard of a low tech par? Wish I would've been snapping shots all along the beginning of the tank but I been too busy. Things were here and there sooo mind you this cheap budget build. In my opinion these cheap equipment did add up. 2nd photo shows how it currently looks like

If you haven't noticed this is a mr. aqua 22 gallon long. For $170 and can't remember if shipping was free or not. Low tech means low light right? I figured from 10-4 inches (substrate to the highest plant) the cheapest and trusted led light will work perfectly. The Cheapo 36" original stingray light fixture. I can't remember how many red/white/blue lights so don't ask. For $68 shipped. The filter was also very cheaply build. None other than the eBay special 265 gph rated 3 stage canister filter. For $62.99 shipped. Anytime you deal with an overly high rated canister **Do not cut the tubes** before setting it up. More tube means less flow. I've had 2 of these similar filters before. Do not use the handle on the top. Always carry it from the very bottom and the seals will last up to many years. I've had one for 3 years running and gave it away just because it was 3 years old. No leaks.

All in all I spent around $350 give or take on this tank. I originally wanted to spend $1000 😰 Talk about saving. Anyways my stock list is this. 3 rainbow shiners barely hitting maturity. Had 5 but 2 died after a week of quarantine. 12 CPD from my old breeding colony and I've been throwing in my PRL CRS Culls into here lol. 😂 Straight up tap of a 6.5 ph reading and they are legit tap watered acclimated. Been in there surviving for 2 months now. Plants for now are various types of buces, fissiden fontanus, mini pellia, anubias nana petite and stardust, Monte carlos and some hitch hikers. The scape is done but I have around 40% of the plants rolling.

Got the 3 main acrylic tubes bended. It was actually easier than my initial thoughts. 2 inflow and outflow tubes along with the spray bar tube. Wondering if I should go with smaller or bigger fittings. I need to stop by the store to find something to cut my corner braces out of this sheet. We'll see

Left side is braced. I have to get my inflow and outflow pipes done before bracing the right side. It was not easy to get a triangle out of a rectangle from a hack saw and a cheap acrylic cutting hand tool. 😪Good thing I got it done. Not perfect by any means.
