Hey Everyone~
I am having some issues with my crystal red shrimp tank. It is 10 gallons and I have about 15 shrimp in there. The goal is to get them to breed. My PH is at 6.6, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0, GH 0, and KH 0. Now I for water changes I have been using the tap water with kordon conditioner. I have read that you need to have a GH of like 4 and KH of 1 or two. I have read about using RO water or mineral supplements to raise them. I do not have a RO water maker or know any pet stores that sell it. If anyone can explain the way this works a bit more so that a newbie understands that would be awesome lol.

Are you sure that your tap water GH/KH is 0. If yes, then you do not need RO water because RO water will have GH/KH about 0.

All you need is shrimps mineral for Crystal Red shrimp, you can use SaltyShrimp GH+ to remineralize the water, just raise the GH to about 4-5 is fine, and KH should be 0-1 for Crystal shrimps because they like soft acidic water.

If you keep neos cherry shrimps, then you can raise KH a bit higher then.

Thank you so much, this makes so much more sense lol So I see that you can get the salty shrimp GH+ or the salty shrimp GH&KH. Should I just get the GH+?

Yes GH+ for Crystal Red shrimps. They'd preferred soft water so we don't want to raise KH.

KH can stay even at 0-1.
