You need to be dosing an adequate amount of nitrates, an adequate amount of phosphates, an adequate amount of potassium, plus all of the various trace elements. Check the ingredients of the Kent or Seachem fertilizers you want to use and see if they do that. Or, do it the easy way and go to Greg Watson.com and buy the basic chemicals cheaper.

How big is your tank? If its under 20 gallons I would use flourish and flourish trace and maybe excel(excel if you arent doing CO2)

If its larger than 20 then hoppy is right and you should go greg watson ferts....

I don't think Flourish or Flourish trace supply nitrates and phosphates in adequate amounts. If I'm right, you need to also use Flourish Nitrogen and Flourish Phosphorous (?).

I use Kent Freshwater. The others are right...you'll still need nitrogen, potassium, and phosporus.
