Keeping RCS short term

Hi all,

I am moving my tank in a few weeks and doing a rescape, adding ada amazonia. To avoid any harm to livestock from ammonia i plan to keep my neons and RCS in a 52L plastic container (will include a heater, filter, and airstone) for a couple of weeks whilst the ammonia levels dissipate. I am thinking of keeping the RCS, ~30, in a couple of large breeding net containers with sone java moss. Do people think this will be a good way of keeping them for a few weeks? (I dont want to put them directly with the tetra owing to the lack of plant cover)

Sounds fine, except that the shrimp will probably crawl out of the nets... critter keepers or some of the plastic breeder boxes might be better options....

I hear SL-Aqua soil leaches are less ammonia than ADA (close to none) and most people who've tried both prefer SL-Aqua.
If there's a lot of plants/good filtration the RCS will do fine. I've kept shrimp in 1 gallon tupperware bins for extended periods of time with only fistfuls of guppy grass and they did exceptionally well. Neon tetra on the other hand I am not so sure.

If it's filtered and heated, especially if the filter media is established already, I don't see why the neons wouldn't be fine as well.

Thanks for the input guys, the container will be heated and filterd so hopefully everything will be fine. I will add a few plants and a few chunks of moss into the container so hopefully they will be fine, the neons have shown no interest in them in the past
