I called around a lot of pet supply stores and no one is stocking aquatic plants, so ROLE CALL! Who here is from Kansas City and can point me in the right direction?

The best plants with the best variety are right here!

I think it's hard for many stores to stock a wide variety of plants. It's still a niche market and once they acquire the plants there is a 'shelf life' on many of them.

My go-to places in the area are Olathe Pet Shop, at 151st and Mur-Len in Olathe, and Pet World, which is actually in Lawrence. For Olathe Pet Shop, my strategy is to follow them on Facebook. When they get a new plant shipment in, they will post what all is in it.

I've also had good luck actually with some of the tissue culture ones you can get at Petsmart. They just require some patience while they transition to actual underwater plants.

If you want a specific plant, though, you may need to look online. There are just too many plants for a smallish brick and mortar store to stock a wide selection.
