i just got a 2x2 mat of HC how do i plant it

ideally, stem by stem. but i've used small plugs the size of a pencil eraser. have fun

To plant HC, it is best to separate each plantlet individually using a pair of tweezers. Do not cut up the mat of roots/stems and runners, however.

Even though it appears to be a solid mat, it should be comprised of individual plants that can be carefully teased apart (use a pair of tweezers).

I'd replace the whiskey with shots of vodka, but that's just me.

Back on topic however, this is essentially the "correct" way to plant HC. As painful and tedious as it may be to plant them stem by stem, a 2x2 mat is not too bad.

easiest way to plant hc drain tank to substrate level plant one by one fill VERY VERY slowly,

or better yet let them grow at the low water level for a few days to start to root then fill

the plant and watch float away way of doing it drove me nuts

I've actually heard Glenlivet is the drink of choice when dealing with this plant.

very slowly and by breaking them up into very small bunches. I find that individual stems come out of substrate too easy

my mat is sending runners. lets say that the whole mat is 1 runner cant break that up if i understand what you are saying
