Jebo and Cascade filters

I'm setting up a 55gal african cichlid tank (not planted, but not sure who else to ask) and want to use a canister filter. Of course I'm trying to spend as little money as possible and keep seeing Jebo and Cascade filters on ebay for relatively cheap prices. Anyone know the quality of these filters, or at least a site that would have good reviews?

I run a Cascade 700 and Cascade 500 on my 50 gallon, and I like them. They're not discussed much on here, as they have taken some heat for bypass problems. I don't think it's much of an issue, personally. I have 4 of these canisters, and I haven't had a problem with any of them. Just my $0.02, I'm sure others will recommend eheim, rena, etc.
Quality is hit or miss. Sometimes the work forever, sometimes they explode the second day you have them. There are plenty of threads on this topic already, just look around.

don't know much about the Cascade models but are both a 700 and 500 needed for a 50 gal?
Well, the flow ratings for filters are not accurate for planted tanks. It is better, IMHO, to overfilter the tank. I think filter redundancy is generally a good thing for a number of reasons. However, this has been debated, and this is only my opinion. Also, I like the extra flow, as it prevents dead spots in my tank.
I have a 1000 on my 29.Its a good filter but there is some bypass on the outside of the baskets.
Easy fix for me was to stuff filter floss in those spots no bypass now.
I also have a jebo cfs4 and a Eheim 2026 on my 55,I really like this filter altho cheap parts are included you just have to be careful cleaning them.
BTW I stuff my jebo with Eheim media and it still gets a good flow...
From my experience I would recommend both filters.
hey, not trying to hijack, but how would you know whether there is a bypass?

Debris getting to the outflow...
thanks for all the info... still trying to decide what filter I should get. Know this is the wrong place to say this but if anyone is selling a canister rated for a 55 gal let me know.
If you plan on having the tank up for years save your cash and buy an Eheim.
The classics are known to last 10-20 years.
