i saw o guy on youtube with a 10g tank and he made a java moss carpet and it looked awesome! so i wanted to try it out...any suggestions on how? ive saw some people useing a piece of slate and tieing moss one top of it and jst putting it in the tank....and it looked good...or is sandwiching it between 2 mesh better? my tank is a low tech tank....so im guessing it will grow pretty slow

either way will work fine , I made a carpet by tying it onto little stones and spreading them out evenly

i used several pieces of slate, tied java moss to each, then pieced them together.. still looks like one big piece when the moss fills in. and much easier if you want to rearrage it or remove/add some later..

Yeah i agree, using several pieces of slate is definitely the best way to do it. In my 68g, i wanted a "moss ledge", so i put a bunch of medium-sized rocks next to each other, tied moss on to them, and now you can barely notice that they're more than one rock.

I just (mere hours ago) made a mesh carpet with some willow moss. I'm already regretting not going the moss-covered-slate route, namely because the nano I was covering has an interior base that's not flat, and I'm already having trouble getting the suction cups to stick. If only I had read this thread yesterday. Argh.

I used Gutter Guard for my Taiwan Moss carpet. This product is great because you get a ton of it for a very low price. It's bendable to any shape you need, and it can be easily cut. It's super thin, and the holes are pretty big.

i actually sell aquarium mosswall and riccia/moss carpet mesh its a 5mm appature in dark green
i use it in my own tanks too and it really is superb
i also sell aquarium slate but i cant post that outside the uk due to the postage costs

finally i also sell pvc elastic bands which are ideal for fixing anubias and java ferns to bogwood and stone they also work well at tying the neeting around slate and rocks. theyre available in black and clear. heres the link
